Your First Med Spa Visit: What to Expect and How to Prepare

October 13, 2026 · 5 min read · Medically reviewed by the Hayati clinical team

Booking your first med spa appointment can feel exciting and a little uncertain. Knowing what happens, what to ask and how to prepare makes the experience relaxed from the moment you arrive.

    The consultation

Every great result begins with listening. Your provider will ask about your goals, examine your skin and explain which treatments fit and why. This is the moment to share anything that feels important, including past treatments and what you did or did not love about them.

    Questions worth asking

    A thoughtful provider welcomes questions.

    • What results can I realistically expect?
    • How many sessions will I need?
    • What does recovery look like?
    • How do treatments work together over time?

    How to prepare

Arrive with clean, makeup-free skin when possible. Avoid tanning, and let us know if you use retinoids, exfoliating acids or prescription medications, since some treatments require pausing them. For laser hair removal, shave the area the day before.

“The best first visit leaves you with clarity, a plan and complete confidence in your next step.”

    Aftercare and your plan

You will leave with simple aftercare instructions and, if you wish, a personalized treatment calendar. Daily sunscreen is the single most protective habit for your results.
